The Magnificent Moustache-Synopsis 3:55mins
In this film I explore issues of identity and gender. The main protagonists are indeed female but in their quest to understand themselves and the need to obtain a moustache: a visible masculine trait exposes them to another dimension of their own personalities.
The Goldrush of Gythio-Synopsis
My 94-year-old granddad thinks he knows the location of a buried treasure. It came to him in a mystic dream that he shared with his wife, who has now passed away. After a couple of failed attempts, thanks to a cheap metal detector he bought in Canada and managed to weasel through Greek customs, a paranoid fear of getting caught put a hold on his ambitions. Now, years later and back in his homeland, I decide to visit him in the small town of Gythio and help him search for the mysterious thing that lies hidden somewhere in the hills of the Peloponnesus. I go on to discover things I never knew about my family and the place that influenced them before they embarked on another gold rush in the New World.
Love Box Installation
“Love Box” is a multi-media sculptural installation. It challenges the notion of “All is Fair in Love and War”. The box is a symbol of he Greek myth of Pandora, a jewellery box and tiny coffin. The sculpted male phallus is covered with little toy soldiers that sit inside the box. Once the phallus begins to rotate the music of Lara’s theme from the film Doctor Zhivago begins to play.
Kill Phil and War Graves Installations
Both Kill Phil and War Graves Installations were created for the same exhibition addressing the issues and injustices of warfare and the effects it has especially on the lives of children. In the "Kill Phil" Installation, the mangled outfits of tiny child soldiers are floating around a trench like play pen battle scene. In the "War Graves" Installation names of real soldier are printed on tiny white baby groves and are gently laid on the benches facing the church alter.
